Guy Pratt

The 28 lessons in this course are a great introduction to playing bass guitar. Guy teaches the course in his own inimitable way, peppering the lessons with anecdotes and stories about some of the world's greatest bass players.

Guy is one of the world's top bass guitarists and has worked with some of the biggest names in music - from Pink Floyd to Roxy Music. He is also a songwriter, producer, actor and comedian.

He began his music career in the band Icehouse in 1982. After playing for Bryan Ferry and Robert Palmer, he was asked by David Gilmour to play bass for Pink Floyd and has played with them since 1987 (the year in which A Momentary Lapse of Reason was recorded). He has toured the world three times with Pink Floyd.

Guy has won a Grammy award and been nominated for two Ivor Novello awards. He has played and toured with the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Gary Moore and Roxy Music as well as working on albums by Tom Jones, Iggy Pop and Elton John. He has also written and produced material for a variety of artists including The Orb, Debbie Harry and Marianne Faithful. His collection of guitars includes a selection of various vintage Fender Precision and Jazz Basses, a MusicMan StingRay 4, a pair of headless Status 5-strings (fretted and fretless) and a Spector NS2.
